Why to Visit The Beautiful Lowlands of Edinburgh, Scotland

Edinburgh, is located in the rustic Central lowlands of Scotland, United kingdom. The land is filled with old style homes, that were bunched together and made of brick. This gave  Edinburgh a feeling of safety and comfortable, that is if your not afraid to talk to and meet new people. Whilst in Edinburgh the people were very open and looking to talk to anyone. I met a bunch of people in the area whom I had long talks with about the area and heritage.  They loved to direct people to the site seeing areas and their own personal favorites.
Sales of homes worth more than £1 million in Edinburgh have been hit by the new property tax in Scotland

Edinburgh Castle

Edinburgh castle is one of the most commonly visited castles in all of Scotland. Its the oldest castle in Scotland dated back to the early iron age, being around 1510. When I visited it was quite busy. When I had asked about their regular attendance they said that that day was a slow day, so be prepared to be in confined areas with a lot of people. It cost 15 (pounds) for admission with a group tour for the whole day, or it costs 20 (pounds) for an evening walk through, but this is only 90 minutes. Yet, I do not  think that is  enough time to get your moneys worth out of this great historical landmark.

Loch Ness Tour

Loch ness is full of mystery, with its obvious mysterious creature Messy, which brings excitement for those who go on boat tours to maybe see this Mythical creature. Whilst on this tour, you visit Glencoe a small historical battle ground. If you get sea sick, like myself be wary about going because on average the tour takes 12 hours most of it being on boat. There are other tours but the one I'm referring to was very well done and had interesting and funny tour guides.

General Information

The population of Edinburgh is around 482,000 people. The amount of people mixed with the size of Edinburgh makes it quite squished in some areas, because some areas like new town are quite heavily populated. We stayed all over Edinburgh and personally I enjoyed staying in old town with my father's friend.

Driving

In Scotland you drive on the left side of the road. If your not comfortable thats okay, because you can travel all around Edinburgh by double decker buses and taxis services. Dont be too confident thinking its the same as driving on the right side of the road, the streets are different and they have roundabouts and other road differences making it a difficult transition.

Locals

If you dont understand what the locals are saying thats okay, ask them to slow down and repeat. They will not take offence to this as long as your not rude about it. When I went, I was with my father who wasn't in a good mood and he spoke rather rude to the locals the one day. Everyone saw and the rest of the day everyone walked past him like they were New Yorker's, and we were trying to get them to sign a petition.

Never refer to Scotland as England, it is offensive to the locals. Scotland is its own country. My dad's friend, whom we went to visit made this mistake when he first moved to Scotland. His neighbors were not kind to him after that, not even giving him sugar when we needed it the one day.

If your going to use slang, don't say it too much to locals, you come off as your trying to hard. My sister who is a little older than I am, continuously tried to play a long as a real scotts women, the locals were not to pleased by her attempt and would ignore her and walk away.
